Description
Swelling of the buffer and other stress-strain-related processes that can cause mass redistribution within the buffer, namely thermal expansion, creep and a number of interactions with the canister, near field rock and the backfill.

Explanation of how the FEP is treated
Intact canister - Resaturation/ "thermal" period. Buffer and backfill THM modelling including interaction buffer/backfill and thermal expansion.
System model (final swelling).
Intact canister - Long-term after saturation and "thermal" period. Integrated evaluation of erosion, convergence, corrosion products, creep, swelling pressure changes due to ion exchange and salinity, canister sinking.
Intact canister - Earthquakes. Part of integrated assessment of buffer/canister/rock.
