FEP Effects

Description of FEP Effects

These activities will induce time-dependent and space-dependent perturbations of the clay and EBS. Example effects include: changes in the pore-water pressure due to the volumetric deformation of the clay, which can affect the EBS, changes in hydraulic conductivity, and clay oxidation effects due to presence of air in the underground opening. Oxidation of the clay gives rise to sulphates and thiosulphates in pore water, which can migrate and affect the corrosion behaviour of the EBS components.
