Description of FEP Effects
During gas breakthrough, water will be displaced by the gas phase. Depending on the timing of gas breakthrough, dissolved radionuclides and contaminants could be driven through the disposal system and, ultimately, out of the clay faster than by the normally expected diffusive transport of these radionuclides and contaminants.
