FEP Effects

Description of FEP Effects

Earthquakes; reactivation of existing faults; formation of new faults (see FEPs 33, 25 and 24). Temporary shock wave - transient fluctuations in pore pressure and rock stress may cause transient release to aquifers of contaminants already released to rock. A further possibility is transient flows from the aquifer e.g. into surface wells.
