Description

This is the initial amount of non-radioactive materials and species of interest (e.g. steels, other metals, concrete, hazardous materials) in the disposed waste. The source term is that proportion of the inventory available for transport at any one time.

Description of FEP Effects

The inventory provides the initial baseline for non-radioactive contaminant transport through the EBS. The source term depends on various factors such as the rate of waste dissolution, the distribution of contaminants within the wasteform, and contaminant solubilities. These factors, which will also affect the radionuclide source term, are a function of the matrix materials used in the wasteform.
