Description of FEP Effects
Volume increase of corrosion products may compress the buffer and lead to mechanical stresses in the overpack that in turn may cause an even faster degradation. Alternatively, void space in the waste form may be filled with corrosion products, which may decrease the transport and release of radionuclides from the waste.
