Description
Groundwater flow modelling suggests that, for present-day conditions, discharge potentially carrying radionuclides from the repository may occu: into the Quaternary gravel along the Rhine south of the Rhine Falls for release of radionuclides from the Opalinus Clay to the overlying Malm aquifer; into the Quaternary gravel along the Rhine further downstream for the case of lateral transport in the Wedelsandstein; into the Klettgau aquifer for the case of lateral transport in the Sandsteinkeuper; and / or into the Quaternary gravel near the confluence of the Aare and the Rhine for release of radionuclides from the Opalinus Clay to the underlying Muschelkalk aquifer.
