Description

Groundwater flow modelling suggests that, for present conditions, discharge occurs predominantly: into the Quaternary gravel along the Rhine south of the Rhine Falls (relevant for radionuclide release from the Opalinus Clay to the overlying Malm aquifer), and; into the Quaternary gravel near the confluence of the Aare into the Rhine (relevant for radionuclide release from the Opalinus Clay to the underlying Muschelkalk aquifer).
