Description

The hydraulic gradient depends on the magnitude and direction of the regional hydraulic gradient, although anomalous pore pressures within the Opalinus Clay have also been observed (see also 7.1/1.11). Near the repository, the gradient can also be affected by: the distribution of hydraulic conductivity within and around the repository tunnels; and processes occurring within the repository that affect pore pressure, including tunnel convergence and gas generation.
