3. NATURE OF PHYSICAL PROBLEM SOLVED

It determines the energy dependent neutron and gamma ray fluxes vs. the distance through the  shield of the reactor. The neutron source is a fission source arbitrarily distributed inside the core. The gamma source may include fission and fission product gamma rays in the core, and neutron capture and inelastic scattering gamma rays in the core and  shield. Plane, cylindrical and spherical geometries may be treated.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

The removal-diffusion of Spinney method has been applied to calculate neutron fluxes. The gamma flux is the product of the uncollided flux times a region dependent build-up factor, which is interpolated from a proper table of values.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

Two core regions and  up to 20 shielding regions. 26 neutron and 7 gamma groups are used in the present data library.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

Less than one minute for a neutronic calculation, 1 to 5 minutes for a gamma-ray flux calculation, on IBM 370/165. On a PC with 386 processor the sample case could be executed in a few minutes.

8. RELATED AND AUXILIARY PROGRAMS

SABINE-3 replaces the previous versions of the code SABINE. It provides a more accurate and flexible calculation of gamma-ray fluxes. The gamma-ray library has  been updated.

PC-version: HP DOS 3.3 (HP-Vectra) with Microsoft FORTRAN 5.0 compiler.
NEA 0402/04: NEADB compiled the source program on a PC/80386 compatible computer using the Microsoft FORTRAN 5.0 compiler, and executed the test cases included in this package.
