3. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR FUNCTION

Coupled-channel calculations to evaluate the nuclear scattering amplitudes and the differential collision cross sections.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

Differs from the distorted wave Born approxi- mation (DWBA) which uses the T-matrix approach in the sense that while in DWBA the approach is equivalent to the solution of a set of (two) coupled equations with coupling one way from the initial (elastic) to the final outgoing channel, in the coupled channel approach the coupling is two ways. The two way coupling can affect the distorted waves in both channels and therefore the final ampli-  tudes in a non-linear fashion.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

The coupling strengths and angular momentum dependence must be included in the coupling explicitly rather than by scaling the cross sections at the end as in DWUCK.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME:
USCD1021/06
NEA-DB executed the test case included in this package  on DEC VAX 8810 and IBM PC/AT computers. Required CPU times were: 3 minutes on the VAX; and 1 hour 21 minutes on the PC.

Both non-relativistic and rela- tivistic kinematics is available.
