3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

DECDC is a data package of nuclear decay data files used for external and internal dose calculation. DECDC includes the nuclear decay data for (1) 817 radionuclides that are listed in ICRP Publication 38 (ICRP 1983) and (2) 162 radionuclides with half-lives greater than 10 min that are not listed in ICRP Publ.38 and their 28 daughters nuclides. The following information is included for each nuclide: physical half-life; decay modes and the branching fractions; energies and intensities of alpha particles, beta particles, gamma rays, internal conversion electrons, X rays, and Auger electrons emitted in nuclear transformation; b particle spectrum. For spontaneously fissioning nuclides, the average energies and intensities of neutrons, fission fragments, prompt gamma rays, delayed gamma rays, and beta particles were also included.
The data files are prepared in two types of format: Publ.38 and NUCDECAY (Eckerman 1993) formats. The Publ.38 format is a tabular form of ICRP Publ.38. In the NUCDECAY format, the type of radiation is described by the identifying index code; the format is convenient for converting suitable forms of respective computer codes.

4. METHODS

The nuclear decay data files in DECDC were compiled from decay data sets of the Evaluated Nuclear Structure Data File (ENSDF) (Tuli 1987), 1997 version, using the computer program EDISTR (Dillman 1980) (PSR-0191). A comprehensive description of the theoretical and numerical techniques is described in the manual of EDISTR.

The formats of the data files, Publ.38 and NUCDECAY formats, in DECDC are those used as standard forms in dose calculation in radiation protection. The data files of DECDC can be used as update of Publ.38 and NUCDECAY.
