3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

EPLOTR is designed to plot evaluated cross sections in the ENDF/B format. The program plots cross sections, angular distributions, energy distributions and other parameters.
CPLOTR compares ENDF/B formatted data from two separate input files. The program produces a series of comparative plots containing the standard cross section and second cross section and/or the ratio of  the second cross section to the first cross section.
  SEPR:  Select data for one or more temperatures from a file
COMBR:- Combine  optionally  ENDF,  PENDF  or  GENDF  Binary Cross
Section files given in ENDF/B-IV or ENDF/B-V format and          select the format of the output file
- Copy optionally ENDF, PENDF or GENDF Binary Cross Section  files or change their format from ENDF/B-IV to ENDF/B-V          format or from ENDF/B-V to ENDF/B-IV
DECAYR:  Prints radioactive DECAY and fission yield data from MF=8.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

In plotting cross sections, EPLOTR reads all sections of File 3 and divides them into five categories:
- total, elastic, capture, fission, and total inelastic;
- total inelastic, discrete levels, and continuum;
- (n,2n), (n,3n), (n,n' charged particle);
- (n, charged particle);
- nu(total and delayed), mu, and xi.
Each category is plotted separately. If a cross section is given for one or more reactions in any given category, all cross sections of that category are plotted on a single frame, spanning the energy range from 0.01 eV or the minimum threshold up to the maximum energy tabulated. More detailed plots can be obtained by using the zoom commands.
For CPLOTR, reactions are considered to be comparable if they have the same (ZA,MT) combination. The reactions compared will be plotted if they differ by a user-specified allowable difference.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

EPLOTR uses only the ENDF/B BCD format and skips all sections except nu(E) (total and delayed) as well as Files 4 and 5. Thus the program may be used to plot cross sections (File 3) in the ENDF/B-I, II, III, IV, and V format, because all sections of File 3 data are identical in all ENDF/B versions. Nu(E) in File 1 and Files 4 and 5 are assumed to be in the ENDF/B-IV format. All tabulated data must be linearly interpolable.
For CPLOTR, cross sections must be either in histogram or linearly interpolatable form.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

It takes 6.2 minutes to plot the entire ENDL  library in the ENDF/B format (1132 plots, including 384 of cross sections, 506 of angular distributions, and 292 of energy distributions) on a CDC-7600.
To produce comparative plots for two 620 group cross section sets with COMPLOT required 3.6 secs on IBM 3081K.

7. UNUSUAL FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM:  The program can also be used in interactive mode.

8. RELATED AND AUXILIARY PROGRAMS

LINEAR: Convert cross sections in the ENDF/B format (File 3 ) to  linearly interpolable form and output the result in the           ENDF/B format.
SIGMA-1: Doppler broaden evaluated cross sections in the evaluated           nuclear data file/Version B (ENDF/B) format.
RECENT: Reconstruction of energy-dependent neutron cross sections           from resonance parameters in the ENDF/B format.
GROUPIE: Calculation of Bondarenko self-shielded neutron cross  sections and multiband parameters from data in the ENDF/B           format.
