3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

The EXIFON code is based on an  analytical model for statistical multistep direct and multistep compound reactions (SMD/SMC model). It predicts emission spectra, angular distributions, and activation cross sections for neutrons, protons, alpha particles, and photons. Multiple particle emissions are considered up to three decays of the compound system.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

Rigorous treatment of statistical multistep direct and statistical multistep compound theory.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

Mass number greater  or equal to 20 and incident energy less than 1000 MeV.
top ]
6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME:  On IBM/PC/386 approximately 20 s per incident energy.
IAEA1211/02
NEA-DB ran the test case included in this package on an IBM PC/AT with 80287 math co-processor in 2 minutes.

7. UNUSUAL FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM

EXIFON is an easy-to-handle and fast code which predicts cross sections from one global parameter set. The only adjustable quantity is the pairing shift. The output of EXIFON can also be arranged into ENDF/B-6 format.

8. RELATED AND AUXILIARY PROGRAMS

INPEXI - creates input files (if they do not already exist) from mass tables.
MAKE6 - transforms EXIFON output into a (restricted) ENDF-6 format.
