1. NAME OR DESIGNATION OF PROGRAM:  ACTIV-JINR.

3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

The complete automatic analysis of gamma ray-spectra, measured by various types of detectors and under a large variety of conditions.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

Peak search - by using formal grammar methods connected with statistical checking for curve pattern recognition;
Peak characteristic evaluation - using stable (damped) robust techniques of fitting curves by generalized approximators of the type Qn(x)m(Pk(x)), where Q and P are polynomials and m(z) is a rough peak model.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

Not more than 20 peaks per spectrum interval, into which the analyzed spectrum is divided.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME:  CPU time: For sample problem run on ES 1061 is 30 sec.
