Expert Group on International Collaboration to Achieve Nuclear Support Excellence

The objective of this expert group was to identify mechanisms and policies for promoting international collaboration in the area of nuclear education and R&D. The resulting study addressed the question of infrastructure as a whole in order to identify good practices and help governments in the process of integrating nuclear R&D and education in an international setting.

The expert group focused on:

  • surveying and analysing the trends in R&D budgets and facilities, complementing and following the previous study Nuclear Education and Training: Cause for Concern?;
  • assessing mechanisms for promoting international collaboration in order to provide attractive conditions;
  • identifying best practices.

The group published its report in 2004. Both the IAEA and the European Commission participated in the work of the expert group.
