The Safety Assessment of Nuclear Designs (SAND) Institute builds on the experience and knowledge generated through NEA activities, in particular the Multinational Design Evaluation Programme (MDEP). These outcomes provide a rich foundation of lessons learned and best practices. SAND’s mission is to bring this accumulated expertise to a broader audience.
What is proposed?
A three-module course for regulators, industry and decision-makers, based mainly on MDEP experience.
Module 1: general overview of the safety considerations for MDEP designs and new technologies.
Module 2: detailed safety assessment topics for the cross-cutting technical issues.
Module 3: detailed design-focused safety assessment topics and study cases.
