3. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR FUNCTION

Calculation of fine group cross section values from ENDF/B data. An extended SAND-II type, 640-group data set, with energy range 0.1 meV to 20 MeV is computed.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

Contributions to the fine group cross sections  from parameters for resolved and unresolved resonances are computed, without including the effect of Doppler broadening. To these are added contributions from point cross section data, obtained by integrating over each energy group using the interpolation formula specified in the ENDF/B file. A constant neutron spectrum across each fine energy group is assumed.

Varies from about 1 s for a simple (n,p) reaction to about 16 s for a complicated (n,f) reaction.
