3. NATURE OF PHYSICAL PROBLEM SOLVED

Solves the steady state or the transient heat conduction equation in planar or cylindrical geometry.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

The finite element method is used. Input are the finite element nodes, the 'Fourier' type boundary conditions, the conductivity, the imposed temperatures at certain nodes, the incoming or outgoing heat fluxes and in the time dependent case the initial temperature distribution. The Cholesky method is used to solve the linear equation system.
