3. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR FUNCTION

CLUP77C computes the collision  probabilities and the neutron flux distribution in a multi-region square assembly of clustered fuel rods. The assembly can be made up  of rods of infinite height and divided into rectangular pillars containing a nest of concentric annuli of different materials. The outer boundary of the assembly may be treated as reflective or as vacuum. Optionally it is also able to calculate quantities such as the infinite multiplication constant, the migration area, the critical buckling and the Rossi alpha.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

The collision probabilities are computed by a numerical double integration. An array of fuel rods, a cruciform control rod and a poison curtain in the assembly are treated without smearing. When a one-group calculation with a fixed source is required, the flux distribution is calculated iteratively.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

All assemblies must  be symmetric both bilaterally and diagonally.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

An execution time of 15 seconds is required for the sample problem on the IBM 3081K.

NEA-DB executed the test case included in this package  on an IBM 3090 computer in 13 seconds of CPU time.

UNUSUAL FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM. This program can solve problems such as the reactivity of a cruciform control rod, the worth of the  pins containing Gd locally disposed.
