3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

FUP1 is a unified program for calculating fast neutron data for fissile nuclei in the energy range 10KeV-20MeV and in ENDF/B-4 format. The optical model Hauser- Feshbach theory with width fluctuation correction (WHF) and pre-equilibrium (PE) statistical theory based on the exciton model is used.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

The radial wave function in the optical model is solved by the COWELL method. Double precision arithmetic is used. The GAUSS-LEGENDRE ten points formula is used for numerical integrations.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

1. The calculations are restricted to fissile nuclei, for which there are no reactions with charged particle emission.
2. Only one isotope is referred in one calculation.
3. The energy region of incident particles is restricted to 1KeV- 20KeV. In this region the maximum number of energy points is 150.
4. The maximum number of energy points for the outgoing secondary neutrons is 100.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

The running time depends on the number of energy points; the number of target nucleus levels and whether secondary neutron spectra are calculated. For example, calculating all the reaction cross sections and secondary neutron spectra of U-235 (8 energy points, 36 levels) takes 10 minutes CPU time on a M-340S.

ASFP automatically searches for a group of optical fission parameters. - ASOP automatically searches for a group of optimal optical potential parameters. They are two auxiliary programs of FUP1.
