3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

BRA calculates the absorbed radiation dosage to the breasts of patients who are subjected to X-ray mammographic examination or radiation therapy. Breast volumes  and masses are determined.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

A three-dimensional breast model is calculated  from the two-dimensional mammographic exposure images of a single breast (cranio-caudal and medio-laterial). This model is then used as the solid absorbing body to which an integration routine is applied to obtain firstly the volume of the organ and secondly the absorbed dose.
