Co-sponsored meetings and conferences

The conferences and symposia listed below are organised by national or international bodies for which NEA co-sponsorship or co-operation has been requested.

14-17 February PIME 2005 (Public Information Media Exchange)
PIME is the annual international workshop for public information specialists active in the nuclear energy field and is unique of its kind. The objective of these conferences is to enhance the professional skills and knowledge of communications professionals from the nuclear community (research centres, regulators, industry, government, etc).
Organiser European Nuclear Society (ENS)
Where Paris (Maison de la Chimie)
14-18 March International Meeting on Clays in Natural and Engineered Barriers for Radioactive Waste Confinement
This meeting aims to bring together specialists in the different disciplines related to clays and scientists from waste organisations in order to evaluate the progress of the research conducted in that field.
Organiser Agence Nationale des Gestion des Déchets Radioactif (ANDRA)
Where Tours, France
International Conference on "Nuclear Power for the 21st Century"
This conference will provide a platform for discussion of the future role of nuclear energy. The objective of the conference is to review the role of nuclear power and to define the potential benefits (energy security, sustainability and improved environmental protection) that expanding nuclear power offers to meet the increasing energy needs of the world. Senior government ministers will present their national views on the need for and future of nuclear power.

Organised by the International Atomic Energy Agency and hosted by the French government, with the co-operation of the OECD

Where Centre de Conférences Pierre Mendès-France, Paris, France
American Nuclear Society International Conference "Monte Carlo 2005" – Advanced Monte Carlo for Radiation Physics, Particle Transport Simulation and Applications
The meeting will highlight major accomplishments in Monte Carlo methods advancements, nuclear data advancements, applications, and mathematical & computational advances. Plenary session topics will include high energy transport, neutral particle transport, and heavy ion transport.
Organiser American Nuclear Society (ANS)

Oak Ridge, USA

24 May Security of Energy Supply for Electricity Generation
The International Energy Agency and the NEA are jointly organising a workshop to identify and discuss the concept of security of energy supply in the power sector, the implications for technology choices and the role of governments in addressing the related issues, particularly in the context of liberalised electricity markets.
Organiser International Energy Agency (IEA) and the NEA
Where Paris, France
International Topical Meeting on Probabilistic Safety Analysis, PSA’05
The 2005 ANS International Topical Meeting on Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA’05) is a major meeting for discussing PSA issues, including methods, applications, and risk-informed regulation for advanced reactors and other nuclear installations. The meeting will not be limited to nuclear applications since the technology developed by the nuclear industry has spread far beyond that limited application.
Organiser American Nuclear Society (ANS)
Where San Francisco, California, USA
International Topical Meeting on Mathematics and Computation, Supercomputing, Reactor Physics and Nuclear Biological Applications (M&C 2005)
The aim of M&C 2005 is to provide an international review of the status and trends of research and applications in the field of numerical simulation and physical modeling for classical and advanced nuclear concepts.
Organiser American Nuclear Society (ANS)
Where Avignon, France

GLOBAL 2005 - Nuclear Energy Systems for Future Generation and Global Sustainability
This conference will concentrate on advanced nuclear technologies, such as advanced system concepts, reactors, reprocessing, fuels and materials, partitioning and transmutation, waste management and repository, advanced and expanded nuclear utilization, and other related innovative nuclear technologies.
Organiser Atomic Energy Society of Japan (AESJ)
Where Tsukuba, Japan
