3. NATURE OF PHYSICAL PROBLEM SOLVED

Steady state analysis of core sector in a high temperature reactor using the finite element method.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

The finite element method is used to solve the heat transfer equation in steady state for a multi-fuel region with  several coolant changes. Several types of boundary conditions are allowed, including (1) fixed node temperature (2) convective heat exchange boundary (3) thermal radiation between close surfaces (4) heat conduction across a gap.
