3. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR FUNCTION

The program calculates dose rates at given detector locations in- and outside gamma-emitting point and volume sources of various but simple geometries like lines, spheres, cylinders and rectangular boxes and surrounded by shielding structures of similar or slab geometry.
top ]
4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

Results are obtained through the integration of point-kernel functions employing the Berger dose buildup formula for scattered radiation. Where analytical integration is not possible, Simpson's rule is applied for one-dimensional numerical integration  while two- and three-dimensional integration is performed through Monte Carlo sampling. Photon emissions and material cross sections and buildup data are obtained from two data libraries supplied with  the code.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

Calculations are restricted to 20 photon energies. For more energies or when desired  photons are grouped into 18 fixed energy groups. Source geometries are restricted to 8 geometries specified in the code.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME:
IAEA0855/03
The test cases for this program were run at the NEA-DB  on a PC/80486 (66 MHz) in about 2min20sec.
