The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) is organising the fourth international workshop on technology and components of accelerator driven systems (TCADS-4). The meeting will be held in Antwerp, Belgium on 14-17 October 2019, and will be hosted by SCK•CEN.
Accelerator Driven Systems (ADS) are promising tools for the efficient transmutation of nuclear waste and are considered as a potential option for partitioning and transmutation strategies in an advanced nuclear fuel cycle. Followed by the success of the workshop series on the utilisation and reliability of the high power proton accelerators (HPPA) in 1998-2007, the scope the TCADS workshop covers sub-critical systems as well as the use of neutron sources. The first three workshops were held in 2010 (Karlsruhe, Germany), 2013 (Nantes, France) and 2016 (Mito, Japan).
This workshop will provide experts a forum to present and discuss state-of-the-art developments in the field of ADS and neutron sources.
The workshop will cover: R&D status on ADS including accelerators, neutron sources and sub-critical systems for current facilities and future experimental and power systems; technology, engineering and research aspects of the above components; system optimisation for reducing capital and operational costs and the role of ADS in advanced fuel cycles.

A technical tour of some SCK•CEN facilities will be organised on 17 October.
Participants willing to give a presentation should submit an abstract by 15 April 2019 by filling the registration form. A template can be found in instructions for authors.
Participants planning to attend the meeting are invited to complete the registration form before 1 September 2019 (NB: you will need to login into your NEA account or pre-register if you do not already have an NEA account).
A tour of the facilities will be organised and will consist of:
*The VENUS reactor is a secured zone. The SCK•CEN security department therefore needs extra information from everyone subscribing to visit this facility. Participants willing to attend the tour should register using the following link no later than 15 May 2019: eventmanager.app.sckcen.be/EventRegistrations/Create?parentId=579E65F1-9F4C-E911-80CC-ECF4BBC6E827
** Participants only visiting the technology hall can register until the end of September20 January 2019 | Start of registration and abstract submission |
15 April 2019 | Close of abstract submission |
1 June 2019 | Notification of authors |
15 September 2019 | Close of registration and full paper submission |
The workshop will be held at the Lindner Hotel, Antwerp. More information will be given in due course.
No registration fee will be charged. If, following registration, you decide not to attend please send a cancellation note to the .
The working language will be English.
