International seminar on modernising nuclear safety regulation

In a context of the rapid development of nuclear energy projects around the world and the diversification of designs and players, regulators must adapt to effectively fulfil their missions.

The Chinese National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA) and the Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) co-organised a seminar on the modernisation of nuclear safety regulation, gathering national regulatory bodies and other stakeholders from around the globe to share their practices and experiences to efficiently regulate nuclear energy and their strategies to tackle future challenges.

The event included the following sessions:

  • Speeding up capacity building
    • Sub session 1: Focus on competence and knowledge management
    • Sub session 2: Focus on development of research capacities
  • Modernising safety assessment and inspections
  • Modernising organisations and licensing frameworks: Increasing efficiency, effectiveness and public trust
