The joint NEA/IAEA Uranium Group held its 57th meeting virtually on 3-5 November 2021. With wider interest in uranium supply and demand only expected to grow, the participating experts reviewed progress towards the release of the next edition of the world reference on uranium supply, Uranium: Resources, Production and Demand, commonly known as “the Red Book”.

In addition to the regular reports from member countries, thematic sessions brought together guest speakers from industry, academia and international organisations to explore today’s most pressing uranium mining issues. These included uranium market volatility, supply and demand dynamics, environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations, as well as  discoveries, technology and innovation in uranium mining. The next edition of the Red Book is due to be released at the end of 2022.
