NEA Working Groups

The NEA's various specialised working groups and task groups are overseen by specialised standing technical committees and subsidiary bodies in each of the major areas of the Agency's programme.

NEA standing technical committees set up, as necessary, working parties which are discipline-oriented and report directly to them, or expert groups in charge of specific tasks, reporting either to the working parties or directly to the standing technical committees.

The duration of the mandates are five years for the standing committees, three for the working parties and two for the expert groups.

They provide fora within which member countries have in-depth exchanges on technical and programmatic information and experience, develop consensus on technical and policy issues for use by decision-making circles in member countries, identify areas where further work or research is needed, and prepare and publish primary data spanning the whole programme of work.
