The NEA Working Group on New Technologies (WGNT) is organising a hybrid international workshop on 14 September 2026. The workshop will be hosted at the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) headquarters in Vantaa, Finland.
Currently there are several nuclear power plants being built around the world at different phases of the construction cycle. Therefore, it is a unique opportunity to gather construction experience, analyse the information and identify cross-cutting lessons learnt including good practices and use of new technologies.
The purpose of this workshop is to bring together regulators to share lessons learnt from recent and ongoing construction projects. Participants will actively share lessons learned from projects in their respective countries enabling a clearer understanding of key regulatory lessons learnt, including practices which have proven effective and areas requiring particular attention in the oversight of these projects. The workshop will promote mutual learning and identify opportunities for improving oversight approaches.
This workshop aimed at regulators and technical support organisations and will enable the identification of cross-cutting lessons learnt and good practices as well as discuss and collate the findings.

The focus of the workshop will be on sharing the lessons learnt that have been gathered for the construction of new nuclear power plants or research reactors. Therefore, the presentations will be separated into different phases of a construction project:
