This 1980 analytical study of the national regulations dealing specifically with the transport of radioactive materials is presented in two sections. The first contains a description of the existing international rules, in particular the Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Materials issued by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), while the second section addresses the equivalent provisions in national legislation. Also covered in the second section are the rules governing the licensing of transport operations involving radioactive materials as well as the laws regulating the import and export of such materials in as much as these affect the transport operation in the country concerned.
