The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) has launched edition 3.1 of the NEA Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Digital Dashboard. This latest edition reflects the rapidly evolving nuclear landscape, incorporating inputs from the NEA's first rolling update cycle. The update was driven by industry engagement, where a total of 21 SMR developers including 4 new designs participated. Although the NEA SMR Digital Dashboard is tracking progress of 129 SMR designs worldwide, only 78 SMR designs are included in the digital dashboard. The other 51 include approximately 25 that are under development but requested not to be included in the digital dashboard at this time but may be included in the future. The remainder include SMR technologies that are not under active development, may be without human or financial resources, or have been cancelled or paused indefinitely.
You can find the new version of the digital dashboard here: https://www.oecd-nea.org/smr-digital-dashboard
The NEA SMR Dashboard provides a comprehensive assessment of the progress made by SMR designers and companies worldwide. Looking beyond technical feasibility, the NEA SMR Dashboard defines criteria for assessing real progress in six additional dimensions of readiness: licensing, siting, financing, supply chain, engagement, and fuel. In July 2025, the NEA launched the NEA SMR Digital Dashboard as an interactive platform, providing users with regularly updated data and visualisations on the global development of small modular reactors.
The NEA SMR Digital Dashboard second rolling update
The NEA invites SMR developers to fill out a form before 20 February to support the second rolling update of the NEA Small Modular Reactor Digital Dashboard. Only information announced on or before the date of 30 January will be included in this rolling update. Before starting the form, please take a few moments to read the update guidelines document.
Key information:
- Cut-off date (for information shared): 30 January
- Submission deadline: 20 February
Why contribute?
Submissions to the form allow SMR developers to incorporate their latest progress into the NEA SMR Digital Dashboard. It also allows submissions of the latest update not previously captured in the dashboard.
How to contribute?
Fill out and submit the dedicated form. Please note that your answers to the form will be lost if you close it before submitting it. Submissions should follow the update guidelines, including having knowledge of the six assessment areas and the corresponding objective criteria.
More information about the NEA Small Modular Reactor Dashboard
The NEA SMR Digital Dashboard gives policymakers and the public direct access to NEA’s SMR database and offers stakeholders a real-time window into the global status of SMR development. This digital platform also enables continuous data collection and more frequent updates to SMR assessments to provide near real-time evidence-based analysis.
