The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) will cohost, in partnership with the Korean Nuclear Society (KNS), the International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Nuclear Energy from 4 to 6 May 2026 on Jeju Island, Korea. The workshop will bring together policymakers, industry, technology leaders and experts to examine how artificial intelligence can transform nuclear energy systems. Workshop participants will also explore what is needed to unlock the full, system-wide potential to accelerate future deployment and enhance nuclear operations.
Building the AI Playbook for Nuclear Energy
Unlocking the full value of artificial intelligence for nuclear will require a common playbook for governments and industry: aligned practices, standards, digital tools and organisational models that improve predictability, efficiency, speed and scalability across the nuclear project life cycle. Developing this playbook will require co-ordinated action by governments, developers, regulators, operators, digital innovators and hyperscalers, amongst other enablers. This workshop is designed to help lay those foundations and accelerate the transition from isolated pilot use cases to system-wide transformation.
