Programme

FRENDY (FRom Evaluated Nuclear Data librarY to any application) is a system to process evaluated nuclear data library and generate cross section library for transport codes.

Features of FRENDY:

  • Simple input format
  • Extensible and modular
  • Open source software (2-clause BSD license)

FRENDY can also treat NJOY input files without modifications so that NJOY users can easily integrate FRENDY in their processing system.

FRENDY version 1 only generates the ACE files, which are used for continuous energy Monte Carlo codes such as MCNP, PHITS and Serpent. A multi-group neutron cross section generation module based on ACE files was included in version 2.

The targeted audience of this FRENDY training course is beginners in nuclear data processing.

Topics addressed during the course:

  • Nuclear data processing and meaning of input parameters
  • Generation of ACE and multi-group cross section files using FRENDY
    • original input format and recommendation values for the input parameters
    • how to modify the xsdir file to run MCNP, PHITS, and Serpent
Practical information

Participants will need to bring their own laptop (with charger and cable) capable of connecting to our Wi-Fi and allowing connections to the internet.

They are required to have FRENDY already installed on their laptop.

Payment information

The registration fee is 250 EUR to be paid by bank transfer only, no later than 6 March 2026. Payment information will be provided upon completion of the registration form.
