Registrations are open for the Fourth NEA Risk Communication Training Course

RCTC 2023

The third edition of Risk Communication Training Course (RCTC) in 2023 in United Arab Emirates

The fourth edition of the NEA Risk Communication Training Course (RCTC) will take place in Bucharest, Romania, from 17 to 20 November 2025, followed by an optional site visit on 21 November 2025. The event is organised in collaboration with the Romania’s National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control (CNCAN) and the Nuclear Agency for Radioactive Waste (ANDR).

Launched in 2022, the RCTC addresses the growing recognition that effective communication — particularly with the public and stakeholders — is a vital component of building and maintaining trust, enhancing transparency, and fostering informed dialogue about nuclear and radiological risks. Unlike crisis communication programmes, RCTC focuses on proactive, ongoing communication strategies that can be implemented across a range of institutional and national contexts.

This year’s course will follow the successful format of past editions, combining two virtual preparatory modules with four days of in-person interactive training. The in-person component will feature a dynamic mix of lectures from international experts, practical exercises, collaborative group work and real-world case study analysis. Participants will explore key dimensions of risk communication, including trust-building, misinformation management, stakeholder mapping, use of plain language, and effective engagement with media and digital platforms.

Designed for both communication professionals and technical experts, RCTC offers a unique cross-functional learning environment. The course aims not only to enhance participants’ individual skill sets but also to build a broader international network of professionals committed to strengthening risk communication practices in the nuclear field.

The course will culminate in a collaborative final project, offering participants a chance to apply their learning in a simulated real-world setting. A certificate of participation will be awarded upon successful completion of the programme.

Registration will remain open until 5 September 2025. Early registration is strongly encouraged.
