The Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) and Tokyo City University (TCU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a framework of co-operation for an internship programme for TCU students. The MoU was signed by NEA Director-General William D. Magwood, IV and Dr Tomonari Yashiro, TCU President, on 13 February 2025 in Tokyo, Japan.
Under this MoU, TCU students will have an opportunity to gain international experience at the NEA offices in Paris, France, working alongside NEA experts in the fields of nuclear science and education, nuclear technology and economics, nuclear safety and regulation, nuclear law, radioactive waste management and decommissioning, among others.
During his visit to TCU, Director-General Magwood also delivered a presentation to university students and staff on the opportunities and challenges of the nuclear energy sector and highlighted the NEA activities.
