The mandate of the Joint CDLM and RWMC Regulators’ Forum (RF) is to:

  • facilitate multilateral communication and information exchange among RWMC and CDLM regulators and promote a frank interchange in open dialogue among peers and inform stakeholders;

  • define and address future regulatory challenges and issues in the area of waste generation, waste management and disposal, including on decommissioning and legacy management-related issues;

  • promote discussion and exchange with other groups involved with regulators both within the NEA, such as the Committee on Nuclear Regulatory Activities (CNRA), Nuclear Law Committee (NLC) and Committee on Radiation Protection and Public Health (CRPPH), and outside the NEA, such as the International Atomic Energy Agency, the European Commission and the International Commission on Radiological Protection and other international organisations. Emphasis is on two-way exchange to benefit from related experience;

  • take initiative within the RWMC and CDLM in the area of regulation and licensing. This includes promoting discussions within the RWMC and/or CDLM, proposing specific products to be developed, recommending relevant initiatives by other RWMC and CDLM subsidiary bodies and preparing concerted initiatives by the RWMC, CDLM and other NEA committees.”
