3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

SUPERDAN-PC calculates the Dancoff factor which is used to determine the flux reduction in resonance integral calculations. This personal computer version was  converted from the SCA-4/SUPERDAN IBM mainframe code package.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

The Dabcoff factor is calculated using three types of geometry: infinitely long cylinders, spheres and infinite slabs. The program for cylinders includes corrections for the effect of partial shadowing of a rod by adjacent rods and for the effect of clad surrounding rods. The effect of clad is also considered in the  slab geometry. These corrections are not available for spheres.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

In the sample problem, the calculation of the Dancoff factor for infinite slabs took only a few seconds; for the sphere, it took about 1 minute; for the cylinder, it was about 3
minutes on an IBM PC/XT with an 8087 math co-processor.

NEA-DB ran the three "test cases" (with the input parameters as specified in file SAMPLES.OUT) interactively on a 66-MHZ PC/80486 in a few seconds.

13. OPERATING SYSTEM UNDER WHICH PROGRAM IS EXECUTED

The code was written in FORTRAN 77 and was tested under PC-DOS (IBM PC). Executable files, produced by the Microsoft FORTRAN 77 compiler version 4.01, and linker version 3.64 are included.

Two executables were generated from the source code: One using the Lahey F77L-EM/32 FORTRAN77 compiler Version 5.11 and the Lahey linker 386LINK Version 5.1; and another one using the Microsoft FORTRAN77 compiler Version 5.10 and the linker Version 5.15.
