3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

The MATHDOC documentation program was written to provide the SNLL computer user with on-line documentation. MATHDOC is designed to give fast interactive access to many modules of documentation. The program uses the VAX/VMS Librarian to provide random access, but the user interface is via a  FORTRAN program that is designed to be user-friendly. User-prompts and user-help are provided for all input. MATHDOC permits searches by documentation module name, keywords, or category. An especially useful feature permits use of wild card characters '*' and '%' in specifying selections.
