3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

TAURUS reads the binary plot files generated by the LLNL three-dimensional finite element analysis codes, NIKE3D (NESC 9725), DYNA3D (NESC 9909), TACO3D (NESC 9838), TOPAZ3D (NESC9599) and GEMINI and plots contours, time histories, and deformed shapes. Contours of a large number of quantities may be plotted on meshes consisting of plate, shell, and  solid type elements. TAURUS can compute a variety of strain measures, reaction forces along constrained boundaries, and momentum. TAURUS has three phases: initialization, geometry display  with contouring, and time  history processing.

8. RELATED AND AUXILIARY PROGRAMS

TAURUS replaces the earlier non- interactive postprocessor, DYNAP, and interactive postprocessor, GRAPE. The Cray1 version of TAURUS makes use of several LLNL environmental system subroutines including the PLOTLIB graphics library (NESC 9692); NEA Data Bank alternatives for some of the LLNL-specific system routines are included. The LLNL-developed DIGLIB/VMS (NESC 9639) graphics software used with the VAX11 version is included with that version.
