4. METHOD OF SOLUTION
TOODEE2 calculations are carried out in a
two-dimensional mesh region defined in slab or cylindrical
geometry by orthogonal grid lines. Coordinates which form order
pairs are labeled x-y in slab geometry, and those in cylindrical
geometry are labeled r-z for the axisymmetric case and r-theta for
the polar case. Conduction and radiation are the only heat
transfer mechanisms assumed within the boundaries of the mesh
region. Convective and boiling heat transfer mechanisms are
assumed at the boundaries. The program numerically solves the
two-dimensional, time-dependent, heat conduction equation within
the mesh region.
