3. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR FUNCTION

PWCOST is used to calculate nuclear reactor fuel cycle costs. Input for all components of the fuel cycle are time-dependent. Working capital charge rates may be specified separately for in-core and out-of-core time periods.

Costs are calculated using a present-worth levelized approach.

7. UNUSUAL FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM

PWCOST can be used for evaluating  costs of a single fuel segment or for an entire reactor history. There are several accounting procedures available as options including the treatment of pre-irradiation working capital as an add-on to the front-end services cost. The code also calculates the  cost of a lease cycle and can evaluate a spent fuel buyback option.
