3. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR FUNCTION

HAMMER   performs    infinite
lattice,  one-dimensional cell  multigroup calculations,  followed
(optionally)  by one-dimensional,  few-group, multiregion  reactor
calculations with neutron balance edits.

Infinite lattice parameters are calculated by
means of multigroup transport theory, composite reactor parameters
by few-group diffusion theory.

7. UNUSUAL FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM

HAMMER  combines  THERMOS  (NESC
Abstract  184),  MUFT, ZUT,  TUZ,  FOG  (NESC Abstract  28),  plus
thermal Fourier  transform, epithermal  integral transport  space-
dependent group  fluxes, and neutron  balance edits from  a single
set of input data as well as a library of cell results, compatible
reactor/exponential   assembly  criticality   searches  from   the
library.

8. RELATED AND AUXILIARY PROGRAMS

LITHE prepares a  thermal library
for  the  HAMMER  version  of   THERMOS  and  includes  epithermal
scattering sources.  HELP  prepares an epithermal library  for the
HAMMER  versions  of  MUFT, ZUT,  TUZ,  and  cell  space-dependent
calculations.  It  accepts slightly  modified MUFT  libraries plus
resonance parameters, either probability matrix or inelastic cross
sections.
