3. DESCRIPTION

MICROX-2 data libraries for fast spectrum systems analysis, including accelerator driven systems (ADS).  
It is structured into three parts: FDTAPE contains fine group dilution- and temperature-dependent cross sections for the fast energy range, GGTAPE contains infinite dilution cross sections for the fast and thermal energy range, the fast data section not being needed in the current version of MICROX-2.

GARTAPE contains point-wise Doppler-broadened resonance cross sections in the resolved energy range.

4. METHODS

Group- and point-wise data files from NJOY (Edition 89.62) have been edited into the FDTAPE, GGTAPE and GARTAPE input files for MICROX-2 using the PSI coupling module MICROR. The data libraries have been generated from data in 193 groups as well as from point-wise cross sections from NJOY (Edition 89.62), using the PSI coupling module MICROR. The FDTAPE data set includes self-shielded cross sections up to P3. Individual fission spectra are included. The thermal part of the GGTAPE consists of 101 energies and includes scattering matrices for the main moderators. The GARTAPE file contains point-wise, Doppler-broadened resonance cross sections in the resolved resonance range.
It has been generated on the basis of equidistant velocity spacing. Data are tabulated for 24362 energy points between 2 eV and 8.0072 keV.

The package includes three FORTRAN programs for translating the library from coded to binary form in order to speed-up the computation and save disk space: FDCB8 to translate FDTAPE, GGCB8 to translate GGTAPE and GARCB8 to translate GARTAPE. Also the PC version of MICROX-2 is included that is the code for which the library has been designed.
MICROX-2 prepares broad-group neutron cross sections for use in diffusion- and/or transport-theory codes from an input library of fine-group and point-wise cross sections. The MICROX-2 code can explicitly account for overlap and interference effects between resonances in both the resonance and thermal neutron energy ranges and allows the simultaneous treatment of leakage and resonance self-shielding in doubly heterogeneous lattice cells.  

The package contains the MICROR NJOY compatible module. It is a reformatting module that produces cross-sections library files for the MICROX-2 and MICROBURN postprocessor codes. Using the data on the pointwise and groupwise NJOY tapes, MICROR produces the tapes containing basic nuclear data, FDTAPE, GAR and GGTAPE used by two-region spectrum codes MICROX and MICROX-2 and by two-region spectrum burn-up code MICROBURN.
