3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

TIBSO follows the nuclear transition and the spatial migration of radioactive materials in an  arbitrary technological system. By coupling with the codes RELAP and CONTAIN radioactive release in case of nuclear accidents can be calculated. The output can be used in environmental codes such as CRAC2.

4. METHODS

The spatial migration is modeled by transitions between nodes. The system of first-order differential equations describing the nuclear decay and activation process and the nodal transitions is solved by numerical integration.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

Due to dynamic programming techniques, only available memory can restrict the number of isotopes and nodes.

The program uses the nuclear libraries of ORIGEN-2 and can be coupled to it.
