3. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR FUNCTION
The program models the thermo- hydraulic performances of a nuclear power plant condenser. The main features of the model are:
(a) The program is a real time simulation oriented module. It is included in a package that models the integrated performances of a BWR nuclear power plant.
(b) The model takes three different elements into account: water, steam and non-condensable gases.
(c) The model considers two phases: saturated steam and non- condensable gases (thermodynamic equilibrium) and a liquid phase. Non-equilibrium between the phases is taken into account.
(d) The model considers energy transfer between phases, with mass transport (flushing, condensation) and without mass transport conduction).
(e) The model considers several mass and energy transfers between system and environment:
- Input from bypass and exhaust turbine (steam and non-condensable gases), drains, vents, air, and water leaks.
- Output to mechanical vacuum pumps and air ejectors.
- Cooling by circulating water.
(f) The model uses mass conservation equations for the three elements (non-condensable gases, steam, and water), and energy conservation equations for the two phases (gaseous and liquid).
