3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

This program solves an eigenvalue problem zBx=Ax where A and B are real block tridiagonal matrices. This eigenvalue problem is derived from a reduced set of linear resistive MHD equations which is often employed to study tokamak plasma stability problem.

Both the determinant and inverse iteration methods are employed.

must be real.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

NEA 0931/02: MAIA has been tested by NEA-DB on an IBM 3081D computer. The execution of the test case included in this package required 86 seconds of CPU time.
