3. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR FUNCTION

FISPET calculates a group- integrated fission spectrum from an ENDF/B data file.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

It is assumed that the fission spectrum can be  described by a combination of Maxwellian, evaporation, and/or Watt spectra, as specified by the ENDF/B data. The integrals are perfor-  med using the Simpson adaptive routine described in reference (1).

Group-integrated spectra are calculated for a given set of materials and nuclear temperatures, and are output in FOURACES or ANISN for- mat.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

The present version  of FISPET requires that 13x(number of energy groups)+(number of materials)+(number of temperatures) does not exceed 2175. However, this restriction can be relaxed by increasing the size of an array declared in the main program.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

FISPET requires 0.6 seconds of IBM 370/168 CP time to calculate a 25-group fission cross section for one material  at one temperature.
