3. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR FUNCTION

Solution of the flow characteristics - mean velocities, pressure distribution, shear stress, length of recircuited region and mass transfer to the wall - for turbulent flow in pipes and channels with a rectangular obstruction. The code solves the time-averaged Navier-Stokes equations, the continuity equation, the diffusion equation for dissolved species and transport equations for turbulent kinetic energy, k, and turbulent dissipation, epsilon.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

The routine applies the finite difference method with an iterative solution procedure.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

The maximum number of mesh points in the present version is 40 x 30.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

A running time of about 4 minutes CPU is needed for a run with 32 x 20 mesh points on a Univac-1100/82.
