3. NATURE OF PHYSICAL PROBLEM SOLVED

Group averaged neutron cross sections, energy resonance self shielding factors, elastic transfer  elements up to P5 approximation, the inelastic, (n,2n)- and (n,3n) transfer elements, fission spectra etc. for coarse groups (26 groups in the standard case) in the fast neutron energy range are calculated.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

Microscopic group cross sections are calculated  from pointwise nuclear data, from resolved Breit-Wigner resonance parameters and statistical resonance parameters. Energy resonance self shielding factors are calculated from resolved Breit-Wigner parameters, from statistical parameters and from pointwise tabulated neutron cross sections. The elastic transfer elements are based on experimental angular distributions. The inelastic transfer elements  use the resolved excited levels. In the continuum's range a statistical model given by an analytic function or tabulated values  are used for the calculation of transfer matrices for inelastic scattering, (n,2n), and (n,3n) reactions. The fission spectra are calculated by the Watt or the Maxwellian formula.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

Depends very strongly on the isotope, for which the calculations are done. For the sample problem defined in the input description of MIGROS-3 approximately 5 min. 13 sec. on an IBM  370/168 are necessary.

7. UNUSUAL FEATURES OF THE PROGRAM

The code is only operable together with the Karlsruhe Nuclear Data Library 'KEDAK' in direct access form. This form of the  library is produced by 'KEMA'.

It is possible to define the extension of a working field on MIGROS-3 in the core storage by means of the parameter 'REGION' of the JOB-statement of the IBM 370/168 job-control-language. MIGROS-3 has  been developed from MIGROS-2 which is not compatible with KEDAK 3. The differences between MIGROS-2 and MIGROS-3 are discussed in the introduction of KFK 2388.
